Ghatam, Konnakol
Skanda Manjunath is a young Ghatam artiste and Konnakol performer from Bengaluru, carrying forward a remarkable four-generation musical legacy. The grandson of Vidwan B. K. Chandramouli and son of Vidwan B. C. Manjunath, Skanda is developing into a versatile rhythm musician with a passion for Ghatam, Konnakol and percussion. He trains in Ghatam under Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee Vidushi Sukanya Ramagopal and studies Konnakol with his father. He has also trained in Tabla for over five years and is learning drums, giving him a broad and evolving rhythmic vocabulary. A recipient of the CCRT Central Government Scholarship in Ghatam, Skanda has won multiple national-level competitions in Ghatam and Konnakol. At just 11, he performed with approximately 200 musicians, including the Orchestre National de France and Chorus of Radio France, at the Festival Présences in Paris. Tradition in his roots.
